I first came into contact with the Leonberger breed as a child, because my family in France had Leos. The more i learned about the qualities of this marvellous breed, the more i marvelled at them.
In the 70's, with some French lines i took my first steps in the world of shows. In the 1980's, and with the help of Gérard Danné, we made contact with Belgium. What we want, in principle, are more standard sizes, to get more defined mask amd more bone.
We brought our first Belgian Leo to Spain into the care of the Riche family. Indar de Noire Epine (1984). Indar was imported and registered in the L.O.E. (Book of Spanish Origins) and became the first Spanish Champion in the L.O.E.
In this period there were no Leos on shows. We felt very much alone, and our aim was to show the excellence of the magnificent breed in the rings. In a country such as Spain, in which there are some big and beautiful breeds, this was not an easy task. It took a lot of time, illusion and effort on the part of our good Cantabrian friends before the Spanish Leonberger club was formed. Later, in the 1990's, we made contact with our good friend Mrs. Jeannine Donceel, the owner of Von Löwenkraft.
We imported three leos to Spain, Strauss (1994), Ukulele (1996) and Usha (1996). The following year we brought in Volga du Mont Kaïlasa, from Mrs. Michelline De Wit. The last few years have been most satisfactory. Volga became the Spanish Champion and won the Spanish Leo Club. In the year 2000 she was considered the best bitch in the Leo Club and in 2001 she was on the podium as Best in Show. As far Ukulele is concernerd we will never be able to thank her enough for the magical moments he has given us. Ukulele has won bost Spanish an international shows. He was proclamed Best in Show in the years 2000 and 2002 in the Spanish Leo Club.

Best of Breed on three ocassions in Madrid, more than 14 CAC's and more than 30 CACIB's. Although with this breed it is unthinkable to be on the winners podium in the finals of Group 2 FCI, Ukulele has managed this on more than 16 ocassions. We will never forget heir being Best in Show in Noja and Camargo in two consecutive years. Madness!. But the crowning moment was surely wining the German Leonberger Championship in 2001, his excellent first place CAC-VDH-Cha in the champions category; it has also obtained notable achievements in the couples category with Volga, in such venues as Madrid, Zaragoza, San Sebastián, Camargo, Noja and so on.
Four consecutive Spanish Leo Club in the couples category, culminating in the World Dog Show Porto (Portugal) 2001, on wining Best Couple, Best Braces-Best of Day. We are now beginning once again, having mourned the loss of our dear Leos, Strauss, Ukulele and Volga. It is a difficult task but we will move forward ... In the dog world it is always a case of Begin to Begin.
